How to convert JSON to YAML
- Choose UTF-8 JSON files up to 10 MB.
- Review the conversion report for changed or unsupported values.
- Download the YAML result, or save the batch as a ZIP.
Where this file comes from
Application settings, API responses, and package tools commonly produce JSON.
What changes in the conversion
Objects, arrays, strings, booleans, nulls and numbers become YAML values. Quotes are added where needed to preserve string types. Large integers must be strings to avoid JavaScript precision loss.
Size limits and browser notes
- Accepts .json files up to 10 MB each.
- You can convert several files at once; they download together as one ZIP.
- Everything runs in your browser, so very large files depend on your device's memory.
Large or deeply nested documents may exceed browser memory. Use files up to 10 MB. Invalid input is rejected without including its contents in errors.
FAQ
Are string types preserved?
Yes. Ambiguous strings are quoted by the YAML serializer so they are not read as booleans or numbers.
Does this work offline?
Conversion runs locally after the converter and required libraries have loaded. Files are not uploaded.
What encoding is supported?
UTF-8, with or without a byte-order mark. Export legacy encodings as UTF-8 first.
