Things to know
- SVG is a vector format and scales to any size. PNG and JPG are pixel images with a fixed size, so the size you choose when converting is the size you get.
- An SVG that pulls fonts or images from other websites may render without them, because outside files are not fetched.
- JPG has no transparency, so transparent parts of an SVG get a solid background.
- An ICO file can hold several sizes of the same icon, from 16×16 up to 256×256 pixels. Windows and browsers pick the size that fits.
