Things to know
- Saving a PDF page as an image flattens it: text becomes pixels, so it can no longer be selected, searched or edited.
- A page saved as an image has a fixed resolution. Zooming in later shows pixels, not sharper text.
- Links, form fields, bookmarks and comments in a PDF don't carry over to images.
- Turning an image into a PDF doesn't make its text searchable. That needs OCR, which these tools don't do.
- PDF to TXT extracts an existing text layer. Image-only scans need OCR, and complex columns or tables can require manual cleanup.
