How to convert PDF to TXT

  1. Choose PDF files up to 50 MB each.
  2. Select pages and choose whether to include page labels.
  3. Download the TXT output and review the conversion report.

Where this file comes from

PDFs exported from word processors and publishing tools usually include a searchable text layer. Scanned documents may contain only images.

What changes in the conversion

Selectable text is extracted in the PDF text layer’s item order and saved as UTF-8. Line and word spacing is inferred where possible. Page labels are optional. Images, layout, fonts, colors, attachments and clickable links are removed. Tables, columns, unusual fonts and right-to-left scripts may need cleanup. This tool does not perform OCR.

Size limits and browser notes

Use PDFs up to 50 MB and 300 pages. Text output is limited to 10 million characters. Encrypted PDFs must be unlocked first; image-only pages need a separate OCR tool.

FAQ

Can this recognize text in a scanned PDF?

No. It extracts an existing text layer. Image-only scans need OCR. If every selected page has no selectable text, the tool reports that instead of downloading an empty file.

Does the file leave my device?

No. Processing runs in your browser, with required code loaded from this site. Files are not uploaded.
