How to convert GIF to ICO
- Choose GIF files up to 20 MB.
- Select icon sizes and choose padding or a center crop.
- Review the conversion report and download the ICO result.
Where this file comes from
Messaging apps and animation editors produce GIF files. These conversions use the first frame and remove timing and animation.
What changes in the conversion
The GIF image becomes a Windows ICO containing your selected square sizes. Smaller entries store bitmap pixels and masks; 256-pixel entries store PNG. Choose transparent padding or a center crop. Metadata is removed, and larger sizes may look soft when upscaled. Only the first GIF frame is kept; timing and animation are discarded.
Size limits and browser notes
- Accepts .gif files up to 20 MB each.
- You can convert several files at once; they download together as one ZIP.
- Everything runs in your browser, so very large files depend on your device's memory.
Modern browser required. Images are limited to 8192 pixels per side and 16 megapixels. TIFFs allow at most 50 pages and 32 megapixels total. AVIF input needs a native AVIF decoder.

What should I check after conversion?
Open the downloaded file in your target application and check dimensions, transparency, colors, and any removed metadata.
