How to convert WebP to JPG
- Choose or drop one or more WebP files.
- Set the JPG quality (50 to 100, default 90).
- Pick the background color for any transparent areas (white by default).
- Download each JPG, or all of them as a ZIP.
Where this file comes from
WebP files usually arrive when you use Save image as in Chrome or Edge on a site that serves WebP, or when you download assets from WordPress media libraries and CDNs. Some design and screenshot tools export it too.
What changes in the conversion
The WebP is decoded and written as a JPG at the same width and height.
- Kept: image dimensions.
- Converted: pixels are re-encoded as JPG at your chosen quality. Transparent areas are filled with the background color, and any color profile becomes sRGB.
- Dropped: EXIF/XMP metadata when present. For an animated WebP, only the first frame is kept.
A lossless WebP with sharp edges, such as a logo, can look slightly soft as JPG. If you need to keep transparency, convert to PNG instead.
Size limits and browser notes
- Accepts .webp files up to 50 MB each.
- You can convert several files at once; they download together as one ZIP.
- Everything runs in your browser, so very large files depend on your device's memory.
Works in current Chrome, Edge, Firefox and Safari. On iPhone and iPad, Safari limits images to about 16.7 megapixels, so very large images may be refused.
FAQ
Why did a picture I saved from a website end up as WebP?
Many sites and CDNs serve WebP to browsers that support it, so Save image as gives you a .webp file. Converting to JPG makes it open in programs that do not read WebP.
What happens to transparent areas?
JPG cannot be transparent, so transparent pixels are filled with the background color you choose, white by default. The report names the color used.
What about animated WebP files?
Only the first frame is converted. JPG cannot hold animation, and the report tells you when frames were dropped.
Will I lose quality?
Slightly. JPG is lossy, so the image is compressed again at the quality you set. A lossless WebP converted at 90 or above looks very close to the original.
Can I convert many WebP files at once?
Yes. The same settings apply to the whole batch, and you can download a ZIP. Each file can be up to 50 MB.
