Excel 97-2003 and legacy business systems produce binary XLS workbooks.
What changes in the conversion
TSV uses tabs between cells, with quotes protecting embedded tabs and line breaks. Cell types are lost; import formula-like values as text.
This is a values-only conversion. Formatting, merged cells, charts, images, comments, links, macros, and original metadata are removed. Formulas become saved results, which may be stale; missing results and error cells are rejected. Dates become ISO strings.

Runs in a browser worker. Limits: 10 MB input, 100 MB expanded container, 50 worksheets, 50,000 rows, 256 columns, and 100,000 selected cells. Encrypted and damaged files are rejected. Spreadsheet styling and recalculation are not supported.
