How to convert SBV to VTT

  1. Choose SBV files up to 5 MB.
  2. Use UTF-8 captions with valid timestamps and blank lines between cues.
  3. Review the conversion report and download the VTT result.

Where this file comes from

YouTube caption downloads and subtitle editors use SBV files with comma-separated start/end timestamps and plain caption text.

What changes in the conversion

Timed cues are rewritten using VTT timestamp syntax. Start/end times, millisecond precision, cue order, supported Unicode text, and line breaks are kept. Cue IDs, markup, notes, regions, positioning, and styling are removed. Overlaps are allowed, but cues must be ordered by start time. This tool does not translate text or adjust synchronization.

Size limits and browser notes

UTF-8 only; maximum 5 MB, 10,000 cues, and timestamps below 100 hours. Invalid timestamps, missing text, and out-of-order starts are rejected.

FAQ

Are captions translated or synchronized?

No. Text and cue times are converted to another file format without translation, timing adjustment, or audio analysis.

Will my file be uploaded?

No. Processing runs on your device after the required converter libraries load. File contents and names are not sent to a server.

What should I check after conversion?

Preview caption timing, overlaps, and text in your target player. Original positioning and styling are not retained.
